There are currently two living hippo species: the Hippopotamus and the Pygmy Hippopotamus. World Hippo Day helps raise awareness of this super cute, super large animal. The International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species, lists the Hippopotamus as vulnerable and the Pygmy Hippopotamus as endangered.

- Donate: The African Wildlife Foundation works to engage communities and create protected spaces for hippos and other animals.
- Adopt: The World Wildlife Fund allows you to symbolically adopt a hippo.
- Share: You can share hippo data with others so they can get involved.
