August 12 is World Elephant Day. The International Union for Conservation for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species lists all three types of elephants as threatened — Asian, African Forest, and African Savannah. World Elephant Day is dedicated to the preservation and protection of our world’s elephants.
